ONEIDA, Tenn. — Donna Martin, Co-Owner and Operator of True West Campground, has recently earned her Outdoor Hospitality Management Certificate, the campground announced today.
True West is a locally-owned campground bordering the Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area. The campground caters to horseback riders camping in the area.
Donna Martin and her husband, Shawn, purchased the campground in 2011 and became members of the National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC). Martin recently attended the National School of RV Park & Campground Management in Wheeling, W.V., to earn her certificate.
The national school is a one-of-a-kind, intensive program designed to equip prospective and current owners and managers with the tools they need to improve or develop a thriving campground business. The school enhances the skills of its students through a high-quality educational program focusing on business management principles and practices as applied to the RV park and campground industry. This is accomplished in a professional educational setting providing formal and informal student contact with an experienced, interdisciplinary faculty including park operators. Throughout the week-long studies, areas such as marketing, cash management, operation standards, service levels and emergency preparedness courses were held. The program is conducted one week each year and students must complete all of the courses to obtain certification.
True West has received multiple awards as a 5-star campground for their hospitality, and HORSEpitality was named Best Small Campground of the Year in the U.S. by ARVC for 2014-2015.
