There’s no better way to celebrate fall than with family and friends! Fall on the Mall is the Scott County Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural fall community festival, slated for Saturday, October 28, 2017, on the historic Courthouse Mall in downtown Huntsville! Make plans to join us for a day of fun and excitement for the whole family!

7 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Pancake Breakfast: Start your day with a hot breakfast feast prepared by Huntsville Fire & Rescue. All proceeds from the pancake breakfast benefit the fire department.

11 a.m.
Vendors, music and cornhole: Things begin to get cranking at 11 a.m. Vendors will open, live music will begin at the courthouse square gazebo, and our first annual Fall on the Mall Cornhole Tournament will begin.

3 p.m.
The Fall on the Mall Costume Contest begins at 3 p.m., sponsored by Big South Fork Medical Center.

5 p.m.
Trunk or Treat begins just off the mall at 5 p.m. Let your kids fill up their bags with goodies!

7 p.m.
Movie under the stars: Kick back and relax as we end the day with a free outdoor movie. First will be Peanuts’ “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” followed by “Hocus Pocus.” The movie will end at approximately 9 p.m. Vendors will still be selling foods like hot cocoa, soup and chili, and the Chamber of Commerce will have popcorn and glow sticks available.

The first annual Fall on the Mall Cornhole Tournament is doubles play (two persons per team), double-elimination, and played by ACO rules. The championship is best two of three; all other rounds are single game. The cost to enter is $20 per team ($10 per player), with a registration deadline of Friday, October 21, 2017. Bags will fly at 12 p.m. on October 28, rain or shine! On-site sign-in begins at 10 a.m. Trophies go to the winning team. To sign up, print off the form below and submit it at the Scott County Visitor Center on U.S. Hwy. 27 in Huntsville by 4 p.m. on October 21!

Trunk or Treat will begin at 5 p.m. in the parking lot of the Scott County Department of Human Services, on the east side of the mall. All area businesses, churches and organizations are invited and encouraged to participate in Trunk or Treat. This is a great opportunity to reach out to the youth of our community! Churches can use trunk-or-treat as a missions opportunity; organizations can spread word about the services they provide. We anticipate hundreds of youth for this event! A trophy will be awarded for the best-dressed trunk, as voted on by the public. If you’d like to participate, contact Shantel Crabtree at the Scott County Chamber of Commerce, (423) 663-6900 or shantel.crabtree@scottcounty.com.

Food: You want food? We’ll have food at Fall on the Mall! Lots of food!! Here are just a few of the items you’ll find: Hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, chili cheese fries, soup, chili, Polish sausages, potato curls, ribbon fries, chili nachos, baked goods, funnel cakes, Frito pies, barbecue sandwiches, homemade ice cream, snow cones, hot cocoa and apple cider.

Special Guests: Batman! Snow Queen Elsa! Tucker, Scott County’s favorite show horse (miniature pony)! These are a few of the special guests that will be on hand at Fall on the Mall. You’ll see a few other Disney characters you’re sure to recognize, and you never now just who will turn up! Be sure to bring your camera; there will be plenty of photo ops!

Vendors: There will be a number of vendors set up. Some will offer crafts and other items for sale. Some will have informational booths. Many will offer games and activities for kids, most of which will be free. There is still time to sign up! Contact Shantel Crabtree at the Scott County Chamber of Commerce, (423) 663-6900 or shantel.crabtree@scottcounty.com. The cost is $40 for a non-food vendor or $50 for a small food vendor. However, vendors that are not selling and are offering kids’ activities along with informational booths are invited to set up for free!

Activities: There will be lots of kids’ activities throughout the day. We’ll have a bounce house (ALQI), a prize wheel (The Unicorn Fund), a duck pond (Scott County Shelter Society), cake walk (Children’s Center of the Cumberlands), Thomas the Train rides (Jellico Community Hospital), Pictures with Batman, Pictures with Elsa, Guess the Number candy game (CASA of the Tennessee Heartland), and more! There will be free face-painting, provided by the Tennessee College of Applied Technology. Scott County 4H will have pumpkins on display from the 4H/Chamber of Commerce annual pumpkin carving and coloring contest. The Scott County Sheriff’s Department will have their cool Hummer and side-by-side on display. And more!

Tennessee vs. Kentucky: We know Scott County is Big Orange Country, but there is a sprinkling of blue around these parts, too. Tennessee vs. Kentucky is a fun rivalry game that just happens to fall on the same day as Fall on the Mall. Thanks to Highland Communications, we’ll have a big screen TV under the big tent so you can kick back, relax and watch the game live. (Kickoff time has not yet been set.)
