ONEIDA | The 97th annual Scott County Fair is just around the corner, scheduled to begin Saturday, August 5 and continue through Saturday, August 12.
The fair’s midway will open on Tuesday, August 8 and continue through Saturday. One-price ride bands will be $15 each evening from Tuesday through Thursday, $18 on Friday night and Saturday night, and $12 during the day on Saturday.
As always, the Fairest of the Fair pageants will be a highlight of the fair. The pageants will begin with the Little Miss Tiny Tots Jr. pageant on the morning of Saturday, August 5, and continue throughout the week.

• Saturday, Aug. 12, 8pm – Miss Scott County (ages 16-20)
Last year’s winners were Kenlee Duncan in the Miss Scott County pageant, Katie Mae Sexton, Jayilee Coffey, Madison Douglas, Adeleigh Coffey, Gracelyn Smith and Brynleigh Shae Anderson.
In addition to the midway, the pageants and, of course, concessions serving up fair favorites like caramel apples and cotton candy, there will be a number of different exhibits, including the categories of flowers, antiques, arts and crafts, Christmas, canning, clothing, photography, needlework, culinary, fine arts and agriculture.
All exhibits except agriculture, culinary and flowers can be entered on Saturday, August 5, from 9am until noon, or from 1pm until 4pm.
The remaining three categories can be entered from 8am until noon on Monday, August 7.
All exhibits will be judged at 1pm on August 7.
Livestock will be entered at 12:30pm on Saturday, August 12. A show and sell will be at 1:30pm.
Gates to the fair will open at 6pm each day, with the midway also opening at 6pm Tuesday through Friday. On the final day of the fair, August 12, gates will open at noon, close at 3pm, and reopen at 6pm.
Admission to the fair is $4, or $1 for children ages six to 11. During the day on Saturday, August 12, admission is free for students, school employees and senior citizens.
